Privacy Policy

Woodpile helps neighbours find and share free firewood. We keep the data we
hold small and boring on purpose. This page explains what we collect, why, and
what you can do about it — in plain language.
What we collect
- Piles you post: a photo, the wood details you tap in
(state, size, permission), and the location. Piles on private land are shown
with a deliberately coarse pin until claimed.
- Your account: when you sign in with Apple or Google we
receive a user ID and, if you allow it, your email. We never see your
password. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only get the relay address.
- Your location: used on your device to drop a pin
when you spot a pile and to show piles near you. We only store a location
when you choose to post a pile.
- Usage analytics: anonymised, event-level product analytics
(e.g. "a pile was posted") via PostHog, so we can make the app better. No ad
tracking, no selling data, ever.
How we use it
- To show piles on the map and power claim/gather.
- To keep the marketplace trustworthy (moderation of reported piles/photos).
- To understand, in aggregate, what's working.
We do not sell your data or share it with advertisers.
Where it lives
Your data is stored with Supabase (Postgres,
hosted in Sydney, Australia) with row-level security. Photos are stored in
Supabase Storage. Analytics are processed by PostHog.
Your choices
- Deletion: email us and we'll delete your account and the
piles you posted.
- Location: you can decline the location permission — you can
still browse; you just can't auto-pin a spot.
- Photos: a photo is optional when posting a pile.
Children
Woodpile isn't directed at children under 16.
